"We can do no great things, only small things with great love."-Mother Teresa
Starting with Thanksgiving baskets and continuing throughout the year, drives are held to help those in need both in Weston and surrounding areas. See below for descriptions of some of our drives. We thank you for making a difference!
Look for our Goody Bag Drive usually in the spring. Malta House helps young mothers choose life for their unborn babies by providing housing, support services and ultimately teaching them independent life skills. Goody Bags are for newborn through 4 years old and will have a Book, Toy & Clothes.
Here's how to help:
1) Create a bag/bags. The book and toy can be gently used or new. Newborn through 4 year old clothing. Please use a sturdy, reusable bag( Home Goods or TJ Maxx sells cute, reusable bags for $1 or decorative gift bag (no plastic grocery bags).
2) Donate part of a bag.
New or Gently used toy or bedtime story books
New child's clothes.
3) Write a check to St Francis. Note "Goody Bag" in the memo. You can drop it in the Sunday Collection or mail to St Francis at 35 Norfield Rd.
Our Thanksgiving Drive begins approximatley one month before Thanksgiving. Please consider joining us as we spread love to those around us who are in need.
We sponsor baskets for Sister Theresa's mission in Bridgeport and our seniors/families in need in Weston..
Here's how to help with our Thanksgiving Baskets:
1.Sponsor a basket on your own. This is a great project as a family or maybe 2 families working together. It is also a great project for a soccer club, confirmation class or Girl Scout Troop. The necessary ingredients are listed below. Feel free to personalize the baskets with drawings/homemade cards from the kids and the seniors especially love the cards!
2. Donate a check written to St. Francis with a special notation in the memo section "Thanksgiving Baskets" & we will shop for you! Drop it off at the office, place it in weekly collection or mail it to 35 Norfield Rd.
Please email me ([email protected]) to let me know if you would like to take on a basket, so that I can keep a tally, or if you will be sending a check, so I can plan a shopping trip.
Suggested items for each basket:
We drive to Sister T's to deliver baskets to the preschoolers and their families and to Weston Social Services office, and are always in need of drivers.
Our Youth group will be organizing 2 relief missions this Spring to distribute clothing to the homeless poor on the streets of New York. We will be collecting gently used Adult Clothes/Coats & Outerwear/ Shoes/ Backpacks/ Blankets.
